The I Understand Math! Learning Center is opening in West Chester. The diagnostic tests used in the center have items like those on the Ohio Achievement Test. The center uses fun activities to engage students in understanding concepts, not just mastering skills. For example, your child might walk in front of a number line to understand adding and subtracting negative numbers or use a fraction kit to understand why a common denominator is needed to add or subtract fractions. The center was created by Pam Cemen, a West Chester resident with a Ph.D. in mathematics education. Dr. Cemen has over 20 years experience teaching math and math teachers and over 12 years experience writing math teaching materials for major publishers.
